Dr. Suryadutt Venkat, MD, MPH - Family Medicine
Dr. Suryadutt Venkat, MD, MPH is a board-certified physician in Family Medicine and Geriatric Medicine with more than two decades of experience providing comprehensive, compassionate, and patient-centered primary care to individuals of all ages. His clinical practice is grounded in the belief that excellent medicine combines sound clinical expertise with empathy, listening, and a genuine commitment to each patient’s well-being.
Dr. Venkat earned his medical degree from Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Medical College, Bangalore University, India in 2000. He subsequently completed a Master of Public Health (MPH) at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in 2004, where he also pursued clinical research and received the Academic Excellence Award from the Dean of the School of Public Health in 2003.
He completed his Family Medicine residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey–Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, CentraState Medical Center in Freehold, New Jersey, in 2008. He then completed a Geriatric Medicine fellowship at the University of Hawaii in 2009.
Dr. Venkat began his academic career as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the University of Massachusetts (UMass) Fitchburg Family Medicine Residency Program, where he served from 2009–2013. During this time, he also served as Director of Geriatrics Education, helping train the next generation of family physicians in the care of older adults. His dedication to teaching was recognized with the Teacher of the Year Award in 2009–2010 and again in 2012–2013. He also remained actively involved in clinical research throughout his academic career.
From 2013–2018, Dr. Venkat practiced as a Primary Care Physician and Geriatrician at Reliant Medical Group in Holden, Massachusetts. He subsequently entered private practice and served as President and Chief Medical Officer of Encompass Family Medicine in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, from 2018–2022.
After relocating to TX, Dr. Venkat served as a Primary Care Physician at Village Medical and Doctors of Internal Medicine.
Throughout his career, Dr. Venkat has been recognized for his clinical knowledge, teaching, academic excellence, and commitment to Family Medicine. His additional honors include the Family Medicine Center Exemplary Resident Award and the Dr. Kenneth W. Faistl Future of Family Medicine Award, both received in 2008.
Dr. Venkat is particularly passionate about providing whole-person, relationship-centered care, with special expertise in the unique healthcare needs of older adults. He strives to build lasting relationships with his patients and families and to ensure that each individual receives thoughtful, personalized care.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Venkat enjoys traveling, playing golf, and spending quality time with family and friends.
